"Now the just shall live BY FAITH: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him" (Hebrews 10:38).
Most of us would rather have the path clear before us. We would like to know how it’s all going to turn out. We would like to know what steps to take to achieve our purpose or goal. But that is human wisdom, not faith.
God has and is not making decisions for us for every thing. In many instances He has given us only the over-all principle. Through His Holy Spirit He then gives us the soundness of mind by which we must apply that principle. After spending time with Him, we step out in faith to make our decision, based on His instructions and the understanding He has given us.
Living by faith is what the Christian life is all about. The result of true faith is life in God’s Presence.
To live by faith means to live each moment of each day in the attitude of loving Christ, seeking Christ, rejoicing in Christ, praising Christ, trusting Christ, hoping in Christ, obeying Christ, coming to know Christ. It is a love relationship not a theological position.
Any set of religious duties or of some other religion, or our own personal standard of uprightness that we practice apart from living each day in the pursuit of Christ, are dead works. All we are able to achieve apart from Christ is loss for Him and therefore loss for us.
So to step out in faith then you must become aware of WHO God is. Faith is basically standing on God's integrity and acting on His promises.
Christ has not set us free so we can go our own way, He has set us free so we can wait on Him without distraction. He died for us, not so we should live to ourselves but to Him who died for us and rose again.
We offer ourselves to God, for the glory of God.
As the children of God we will makes many mistakes as we pursues the will of God. But as long as we follow after Jesus He keeps us in fellowship with God. And that is what the life of faith is about.
