We can have peace and comfort knowing that God's grace furnishes what is lacking in our lives due to personal weakness. Knowing Christ fills our inadequacy is a great source of encouragement.
Knowing that God is not asking us to do anything that He is not willing to accomplish through us should be our greatest source of encouragement.
In this life, Christian women everywhere need to avoid two extremes and continually remain aware of both of them. The first is that of self-confidence, the mind set in which we are so sure of our own ability that we don’t think we need any help. The other extreme is that of self-abasement, or thinking so little of ourselves that we don’t really believe it’s possible for God to use us for His glory.
Both of these extremes are prideful. Both of these terms start with "self". And either one will block GRACE, or God’s ability, from working in our lives!
Father God has Grace for every weak area in our lives. Instead of being dominated by our weakness and inadequacies, He wants us to see them, as opportunities for His ability to be released in our lives.
The power of God rests on the weak. Grace is shown to the down and out. God dwells with the humble.
Paul learned this concept in 2 Corinthians 12 where he describes a season in his life during which he cried out for the Grace of God.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10:“Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’
Paul pleaded three times with God to have the thorn removed. He didn't bind the thorn like many of us do, He went to God and pleaded.
Christians must be careful on what they bind and loose. Some things are just an opportunity for God to demonstrate His power. God allows us to become weak so that we can depend on His strength.
Perhaps you have trusted yourself up until now. And maybe like Sarah, you have produced lots of little “Ishmaels;”. There is still hope that the Lord can work in your life. And that hope is found in His abundant GRACE.
There are many out there enduring the hardships of life alone. God is asking you to to come to Him and lay down your burdens. In doing so God will lift you above your circumstances as he develops your character.
When you humble yourself before God and turn away from yourself, and place your confidence in the one who “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that you could ask or think of ”(Ephesians 3:20), you too will find GRACE - God’s ability to help you in the difficult places of life.
May His light illuminate and strengthen you through life, guiding you to eternity in heaven above.
