God will never let you down

Romans 5:5 - And hope does not disappoint; because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Hope. We cannot live without hope.

The word “hope” in the Greek means “confident expectation.”

But what about when we “hope for something” to happen in this life that is in line with God's will for our lives and it doesn’t? Although we are assured in scripture that God hears all of our prayers and answers them according to His plan, many times, and perhaps often times, the answer is definitely not “what we were hoping for”.

And that's where disappointments sets in to disintegrate the little hope we have when we have unfulfilled longings.

The word disappoint means to fail to meet the expectation or hope of.

Think of the years of disappointment experienced by Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth. Month after month, year after year, they saw the evidence of their childlessness.

When faced with dissapointment, it seems so faithless to tell God we are dissapointed in Him.

I have been disappointed with God. Times when I expected Him to fulfill a promise in one way and He chose to fulfill it in a completely different way. A way that excluded me. I was disappointed. I was angry. I shouted at God.

Then it dawned on me... "and hope does not disappoint". Not just any hope but hope that is anchored in the love of God.

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)

Did you know that God made over 300 promises about Jesus in the Bible before he was ever born?  Three hundred promises and every single one of them was kept.  So is there any doubt that we can hope in the Lord?  No way!  God is perfect.  When God makes a promise to you that He will be faithful… he means business.

So now if God does NOT lie, where is the problem?

The problem is that, many times, our hope is misplaced. Instead of hoping in God, we hope in someone or something else to “make it happen.”

The Bible talks about a different kind of hope, a hope that does not disappoint us.  Beloved….If you are reading this know that God will never let you down. You can rest assured that God’s love is unfailing. Keep your Hope in Him and Him alone.
