I am loved by God

We often find our value and identity in wrong ways. We try to find our worth in our roles and our abilities. We may even define our worth by our sin, lack of self control, our failure.

One can also seek affirmation from others to define how they feel about themselves. Do others consider us kind, strong, attractive, giving, sacrificial, angry, etc.? Our motions and feeling can dictate our identity as well.

Our roles: mother, sister, friend, teacher, employee, employer, student, etc. can give us a temporary and false sense of meaning and value. However, none of these things are who we are; they are idols and false identities. At our core we are God’s beloved created to be with Him for eternity. We are loved not because of who we are but because of who God is, Love.  God calls us His dearly loved children, His beloved, His friend, His bride, and heirs to His Kingdom.

Even now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1). He has made us acceptable in the Beloved (Eph. 1:6). In deed, we are complete in Him (Col. 2:10).

God loves you for who you are and for who he created you to be. It doesn’t matter what you look like; it doesn’t matter what you’ve done; it doesn’t matter if you feel like no one could ever love you.

God's love for us is beyond our ability to fully understand, but not beyond our ability to realise, accept and enjoy.

We all sometimes feel like no one cares, like no one could possibly love us, like we don’t fit in anywhere. But just remember that God does care, that God will forgive all your failings and if you will receive that forgiveness, you can be confident that you will always have a place in His family.

Say to yourself, "I am loved by God more than I can either conceive or understand." Let this fill all your soul and all your prayer and never leave you. You will soon see that this is the way to find God —AbbĂ© de Tourville
