5 Reasons to Obey God

Obeying God is in our best interest. You cannot have fellowship with God outside of obedience. Obedience to God and living an obedient life helps a believer grow closer to Christ. One of the main reason God wants us to be obedient is that He knows what is best for us but also he wants us to live the good life of obedience, holiness and purity. Jesus said that the evidence of a personal relationship with him is doing God’s will.  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.’ (Matthew 7:21) The beauty of God’s Grace is that it enables us to obey God and to find much blessing in day by day obedience. No greater example of obedience exists than that of our Savior.  Jesus obeyed His Father, as an example of how we should obey Him. He was obedient until death.

  1. Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person's seemingly small act of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown what to do next ― Elisabeth Elliot

  2. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  3. Obedience to God is the pathway to the life you really want to live. It's the answer to overcoming sin and any problem you face. It's the way we learn how to grow up and let God work in our lives, gently changing us so we can be what He created us to be – Joyce Meyer

  4. We must choose to obey God in faith.  Every time we trust God’s wisdom and do whatever he says to do, even when we don’t understand it, we deepen our relationship with God – Rick Warren

  5. Beware of the inclination to dictate to God what consequences you would allow as a condition of your obedience to Him – Oswald Chambers

Obedience is the true test of our love for Christ and the secret to discovering God's will for our life. Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments" (John 14:15) and, "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me".
