Don’t let your mistakes define you

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life.  And sometimes, I’ve made mistakes that feel painfully unbearable.  Some mistakes have clinged to me longer than others. And at times, I’ve been crushed by the weight of them.

It’s in season like this where we need to keep the Word of God before our eyes and it’s in this season that we need to remind ourselves of Whose we are.

Mistakes, if allowed can define us.

Sometimes we battle so much shame and condemnation for the things that we have done, we think we have gone too far to receive forgiveness and to have peace within ourselves. But God assures us that He will not reject a broken and repentant heart.

Still with that knowledge we struggle to have peace in our lives. This is a stronghold, or an incorrect thinking pattern that needs to be torn down in our minds.

This is what is called a sin consciousness.

Being sin conscious means you elevate your mistakes above God’s Grace. You completely forget the Mercy and Grace of God.

You forgot that you are loved, that Jesus died for your sins. And not just your past sins, but even  your present sins.

You need to have a righteousness conscience.

But what is righteousness?

Righteousness is the God given ability to stand in God’s presence without any sense of fear, guilt, shame or inferiority, as if sin never existed!

Don’t let your mistakes define you

It’s a gift and what do you do with a gift? You receive it as a gesture of gratitude to the giver. And the Giver of Righteousness is God Almighty.

God knew we will fall sometimes and make mistakes. But in His Mercy and Grace, God made provision for those mistakes by giving us the gift of His Son’s blood.

Jesus blood speaks better and it helps us to overcome everything. See: Hebrews 12:24Revelation-12-11.

If you have repented then you are forgiven.

No need to rehearse the mistake in your mind. God has forgiven.  That’s how much He values our relationship with Him. He knows that our mistakes can cripple us and cause us to move away from Him.

Paul said it this way in Romans 8:1-2, “There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death”.

Phew...thank You Jesus!

Now, let us NEVER reject the Grace of God.

Don’t let your mistakes define you. They are exactly that: mistakes. Learn from them and move on. And if you make them again, repent and ask for forgiveness until you are perfected in His Love.

Meditate on God's Love and Mercy.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
