Be anxious for nothing

As Christian women, we are definitely not immune to the troubles of life. We aren't promised an easy road, and when troubles do come, we're urged to rise above them and experience "peace that passes all understanding."

The Bible says, "be anxious for nothing".

But let’s be honest, it’s so easy to get caught up in anxiety as we go about our worlds, striving toward our purpose. Then we act after we’ve thought, not after we have consulted with God.

We think that we can cope with a few simple problems here and shoulder a few little burdens there, before long we realise that the weight has increased astronomically beyond our ability to bear.

There is a responsibility that we should carry, however we cannot handle the full weight.

Anxiety is about the future, anticipation of things that haven’t happened yet.  However, we can use past negative events as fuel for our worry and anxiety.  Because it’s happened before,  it might happen again,  fueling anxiety.

But anxiety is meditation in fear. It is taking upon ourselves the care for our future and the responsibility to solve all our problems.

And a lot of times, anxiety is rooted in distrust of God or false beliefs about Him. You know those thoughts, “He is out to get me” or “I'm being set up” or thoughts of how God has somehow let you down. But they are ALL LIES!

Be anxious for nothing

And if you are prone to worrying, you always find something to worry about.

But God didn't make being anxious our responsibility hence Paul said:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God - Ephesians 4:6

The ONLY power we have been given over anxiety and any situation we intend to change is the power of prayer.

Prayer in this context means to hand ALL your anxieties to God.

Talking to God helps us with our anxiety. We need a sounding board, and He’s always there listening.

Many times we pray about a problem but continue to worry. Why? Because we are so self-centred that we don't even realise that we are trying to control situations.

I have also discovered that this happens because our focus is wrong. Instead of focusing on what God has promised in His Word and on His power to intervene in our behalf, we continue to struggle.

But God won’t work until your heart is at peace. Have you noticed that most of the things you needed actually came when you didn’t expect them. They came to pass because you were no more anxious bothering yourself over them.

God will only begin to move when you stop being anxious.

God is with and for His daughters at all times.

So when thoughts pop up in your head God is simply saying to you "PRAY and trust Me to see you through".

God is the author of peace and He wants us to experience the peace that He alone can give.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own - Matthew 6:34

So today, focus on God's character and His greatness, goodness, and incredible love for you. Remember that He is the one in control.
