10 Biblical ways you can encourage others

Saturday, October 05, 2013

Everyone needs encouragement. Why?  Because life is rough, and it tears away at our self-esteem and it's full of dissapointments and discouragements.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11

I have been at both ends of encouragement and owe so much to this simple act. And it's been so beautiful to have “pushers, not pullers” in my life.

Remember that life is not about us  rather, it is about what we can do  to help other people. Jesus said if you want to be great you must serve.  Because the only thing we are taking home is people.

St. Francis of Assisi said, "it is in giving that we receive."

The world will look down upon us because of our Christian values and beliefs; we will be labeled all sorts of things just for following the Scriptures.

And if we are not careful, all we will see are the problems. But there are lots of good things we can focus on.

As women we are created to be life givers, not life drainers.

God has called us alongside of each other to help each other. And He has assigned to each Christian woman different portions of faith so that we work together; so that we lean on His Spirit in each other.

10 Biblical ways you can encourage others

God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God - 2 Corinthians 1:4.

Genuine, authentic, honest encouragement is not only heard – it’s felt.

Saying "Well done" or "Congratulations" at the right time can mean the difference between "keep going" and "give up".

Unfortunately, we forget in our busy lives how important it is to take a moment and brighten someone's day.  Start praying that God would open your eyes to needs around you or ways you can serve because we can get stuck in our own little comfort bubble and NEVER see a single need around us.

Here are 10 Biblical ways you can encourage others:

  1. Decide daily to walk close to Jesus and remain committed to Him in faith.

  2. Rest in the Promises given to you in Scripture.

  3. Live your faith truthfully and let it be an encouragement to others.

  4. Be a woman of a godly character. You are the only Bible that people will read.

  5. Give heartfelt compliments.

  6. Listen to people and take their concerns seriously.

  7. Let people know that you are praying for them.

  8. Respond to problems with hope and encouragement.

  9. Share your testimony, big of small, as the Spirit of God leads you.

  10. Remind fellow Christians of the specific promises of God

And more than anything give people a genuine smile. This is becoming one of those rare things to receive and by giving a real one, you encourage others to believe in love, to hope again and to try again.

A little nod of encouragement always impact someone’s day. And it’s amazing how great we feel ourselves when we encourage others.

This is what we were called to do… to encourage one another and build each other up!
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near - Hebrews 10:24-25.

How do you encourage others to live out their faith?
