Trust and obey God

Trust and obedience are two virtues in very short supply in our cynical and callous world. How many times have we said to Jesus "I trust in You Lord" but all the while making a backup Plan B?

Every one of us has done this at one time or another.  We forget that God knows what we need before we even ask.

Any time we fail to trust God and obey His Word, we are setting ourselves up as superior to Him, claiming that we know more and that our way is better than His.

Of course we do not keep the commandments to be saved.  We keep them because we love Jesus.

This is what faith is: it is being faithful. It is living a certain kind of life– a life of trusting and obeying Him day by day and moment by moment.

Obedience really is a part of trust. When we refuse to obey, it is an act of distrust. It takes trust to obey, especially when we are called to do something against our inclinations or personal opinions.

I have found that those times when I stop trying to analyse what God is doing with me and for me, and instead "Let go, and let God", by simple obedient trust, are the times I am really blessed.

Before Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the garden, they had already sinned against God in their hearts. They failed to trust God, His Word, and His goodness, causing them to act on their own wisdom and desires, leading to disobedience and death. We do the same when we fail to trust God who speaks and fail to obey that which He has spoken.

We must learn to daily depend on the transforming power of the Gospel and the sanctifying work of God's Spirit to empower us to trust God, to submit to His Word, and to walk in obedience – by His grace and for His glory.

If you are going against God’s commands you will never have peace nor joy in your life.  Why? Because like Jesus said to Paul you are kicking against the goads (A spiked stick used for driving cattle).

Jesus said that if you love me, you will obey my commandments. So by obeying the word and the instructions God gives to us we can show our love and trust in him.

There are times in every believer's life when God requires him to step out into the unknown--to take a leap of faith--to go out on a limb. These occasions almost always defy our ability to reason and to make sense of it all.

Trust and obey God

Today God is calling you to step out in faith and trust Him. Today is the day of decision. God is asking you to believe that His power will equip you for what you are called to do. If He didn't think you were ready He would not have chosen you. God knows that this time of trusting Him in the midst of your doubts and fears is necessary preparation for upcoming blessings and the manifestation of His power. Follow the instruction and position yourself to receive your blessings.

All you need to do is to trust and obey.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
