5 Proverbs on Friendship

On our journey here on earth we will meet many people who will impact our lives. As women we need the emotional support, encouragement, prayers and friendship of other women.

Those we choose to call our “friends” are the ones who will probably have the most influence on us because many  families are getting smaller.

If women have friends who are not prayerful or who are not in a healthy relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, women who are caught up in superficial frivolities…over time, this will have an effect on their souls.

God chooses our families for us, but He allows us to select our own friends. In allowing people in our lives as friends we should also examine what kind of a friend we are to others.

Having fun as fun is important, but true friends should edify and inspire us towards a deeper Faith and love for Christ Jesus.

In healthy relationships, each person pours into each other’s life; the commitment is not one sided. When you’re whole you don’t run around trying to fix other people or expecting them to fix you.

Here are 5 Proverbs on Friendship

  • A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need ~ Proverbs 17:17, NLT

  • The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray ~ Proverbs 12:26

  • He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm ~ Proverbs 13:20

Friendships can be unhealthy and affect our other healthy relationships…and our walk with the Lord.

Don't be afraid to ask God to help you to do a check on those in your inner circle. Some friendships might be long dead and you might be holding on to them. Some might need to spring up and you are might be afraid to branch out to them.
