The Power of Forgiveness

There is so much meanness and abuse, intolerance and hatred around us.  The world is full of hurting Christian women. And Christian women are hurting because someone hurt them.

But there is Power in forgiveness.

So they have hurt you, used you and abused you. But have you not done the same to others? Are you that perfect, already?

Jesus made it very clear in scripture that we shouldn't expect to been forgiven if we are holding other people's acts of sin against them. In fact we are to forgive them in the same manner that we are forgiven by God.

Daily we hide behind the mask of a smile, hot temper, indifferent attitude, the silent treatment, the short temper and defensiveness and we call it strength or the power of womanhood.

But that is a lie from the devil himself.  There is not strength in unforgiveness accept spiritual, mental and physical torment.

There’s no strength in bitterness, anger, resentment, hate or anything like that.

But there is power in forgiveness. Power that transcends all human understanding, that’s why Jesus commanded us to forgive others. Note that He didn’t suggest it, He commanded it!

Many Christian women refuse to forgive others because they think they are letting the culprit off too easily and they believe the offender should suffer some consequences for what he or she did.

Again that’s a lie.  It’s lie because lack of forgiveness does more damage to us than to the offender.

And refusing to forgive other people is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

Unforgiveness kills your very own life and takes away your God given right to be the Best You that God made you to be.

That is why as a Christian woman you must not allow the things that are happening in the world to overcome you. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world! If you don't have wisdom ask God.

I know you want peace, joy and love. But if you have unforgiveness in your heart, you are defeating yourself.

I won’t deny that it’s not easy to forgive those that have hurt you. I won’t take away that truth.

But this is what I offer you: Jesus, the great Healer!

I have learned that you can’t heal pain with pain or with tears, sex, food, hate, etc. NO!  You can only heal pain with love – the love of God.

That is why it’s so important for us to actively pursue God to fill us up in areas of our lives that do not reflect His Love.

Our world becomes better when we choose to live in harmony with God; forgiving others from a place of love and compassion, instead of self-righteousness and judgment.

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you - James 2:13
