Prayer comes first

As we go about our business, striving toward our purpose, we act before we stop to think. And if for any length of time we don’t place God first in our thoughts and before every action…

Especially the little ones. And one day we stop to think and we realise that we  have covered a lot of ground and maybe, just maybe we were going in circles. Or backwards. Or struggled with every step.

Sometimes we approach prayer as a last resort. We trust our own abilities first or put our trust in the abilities of others, and then when we feel that these abilities are lacking we begin to pray.

But prayer comes first. It is part of our life.

Unless there is a firm conviction about prayer in our lives we will not even budge toward drawing near to God—toward getting to know Him.Prayer comes first

Without God we have nothing, we are nothing. And having that clarified, simplifies everything else.

Prayer places you above all the stuff, and makes sure you’re always in the best place no matter what’s given to, or taken from you.

This is the only way we can easily overcome the countless difficulties we have to face day after day.
As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed ~ Daniel 9:23

God hears our requests. His involvement is so great that He sees the sparrows fall. His involvement is so great, Jesus described it that He knows every hair on our head. He knows what is going on.

All the drama and urgency and worry and burden we attach to our everyday stuff washes clean of any weight, and falls in line under what’s most important. When you get to the place where you have everything, but really all you need is prayer… You realize how backwards you were.

“I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.” ~ Abraham Lincoln
