Jesus is our peace

Every Christian woman at some point or another become overwhelmed with circumstances, life, people, problems; and other things.

But it's at this point in life where you either draw closer to God or you become lower your standards, compromising yourself.

Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:4-7 that we should "not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

There is the desire in many Christian women's lives to have know personal peace.

In fact the whole world is troubled.  Even now, people everywhere are searching for peace, and cannot find it.

There are many ideas of what peace is in the world today. And because of this different meanings to peace, many of us are chasing something that we will never have without God.

Many of us believe that the absence of problems, turmoil and peace means that we have peace.  But that's not peace, that's the absence of problems and turmoil. In fact the external events have nothing to do with our lack of peace in our lives.

So why don't we have peace? I mean we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour so why do we experience internal turmoil?

Inner turmoil often happens when we "move away" from our Source of life, when we neglect  the things we know to be important, when we literally carrying the world on our shoulders.

So where does a Christian woman find the kind of peace that is that is not affected by trouble or turmoil?

Jesus is our peace (Ephesians 2:14).

Jesus said, "...My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27).

Jesus is fully qualified to give a lasting peace (Mark 4:38-39). His peace is our inheritance and we receive it by His grace.

The awesome part about God's peace is that it's not dependent on the world's condition but on Him alone.  His peace trumps every challenge we face.  His peace is an unending source of strength in the midst of difficulties.

So, why worry? Why are you fretting and fuming? It's not like you  were promised a smooth journey here on earth.

But this is what you were promised: His peace as you ride those storms.

Today whatever you are faced with, I ask of you, to let God's peace calm the turmoils of your soul, to quite the beating waves of the heart and to lead you gently into His full life.

"Be still, and know that He is God" (Psalm 46:10)
