Stir up the gift in you

Stir up the gift in you. That's what the Bible says you should.  That means you can lose the flame of the fire in your life.  Have you been wondering why you have become lazy in your faith and why you have allowed a don’t-care attitude and lack of discipline to rule you? Well it's because you have not been flaming your flame.

The Word says in 2 Peter 1:10, if this happens, you'll fall or stumble. If you continue like that you are also not going to be able to carry out the assignment that God has given you to do.

Paul said "not to quench the Spirit" (1 Thessalonians 5:19). He also urged the young Timothy to ". . . Stir up [rekindle] the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

According to 2 Timothy 1:6-7, the responsibility of being stirred up is on you. Why? Because God has already given you the gift. And He's also given you the Grace to overcome.

Stir yourself up in the Lord

You see the assignment you are given is not only about you. There is a hurting world out there and they need to hear the Good news that Jesus loves them. And God in His mercy and Grace allowed you to be born for such a time as this, to do exploits in His name.

Now the question is how do your stir yourself up so that you can remain in the courage, strength and love that God gives you daily through His Spirit?

First take some time today to check the level of the fire in you. Nothing happens until you make it happen. If you don’t fan your flame it will remain dormant.

Secondly, let go of the excuses. Return to the basic things of the Word of God. Keep your heart stirred up. Keep your emotions stirred. Love Christ. Love souls. Love the Word of God. Share the Gospel, and seek the Salvation of others.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (Ephesians 6:10-13).
