Food, glorious food! I, like most women, love food. And over the years I have learned to appreciate it far more than I used to. I understand better now that food is God given and therefore it is good for us.

Body shaming. I've been there. The body shaming really affected my relationship with food. I used to live on junk food and I treated my body like crap. I used to think that starving myself was the answer and that food was the enemy. And when things got out of control regarding my weight I blamed the food.
Thank God for inspiration! I started listening to my body and from then on I stopped demonising food.
Unlike popular belief, Food isn't the enemy. Real food is awesome and can really enhance your life. Learning about it will help you to understand it better.
Sadly, in our craze to have perfect bodies as women we have done more harm than good. We have demonised food and called in all kinds of labels. Food quotes like this one, "you are what you eat. so if you eat a pig, you are a ..." are posted on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
How ridiculous is that quote!? I mean think about it? How can eating a pig turn you into a piglet? Aargh, as if your worth and essence is tied to your stomach.
Let me tell you this, your worth is not tied to anyone or anything but God. He is Your Creator and you are made in His image.

The apostle Peter was corrected after He denied a lunch/dinner invitation from God, and called God's food for mankind bad.
Acts 10:13-15 - New International Version (NIV)
13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” (emphasis mine).
So if your body says eat the bacon, then eat the bacon. If your body says, have some chocolate then by all means please do. What I am saying is this, ordering a salad when you want a burger is death. You will be grumpiest person that earth has ever seen. So the right thing to do is: eat a burger if you want a burger. Eat a salad if you want a salad. Life is too short to deprive yourself.
And don't be afraid of food. It is not the enemy. The enemy is the lies that you believe about it.
There are no rigid rules, you can eat what you truly want in the respect of thinking through what your body and mind wants and needs. And when you feed your body what it needs, you will be more healthier and happier.
Women of God, your love love of food doesn't have to get in the way of a healthy lifestyle. Food enriches it. Make food fun and healthy. Don't make it a punishment.
You can lead an awesome active life, full of friends and family, full of laughter, joy and events and not shame.
