Embracing the Adventure of Trusting in God

In the book of Hebrews, we are reminded that the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38). This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the essence of our Christian journey. Living by faith means surrendering our desire for clear paths and predetermined outcomes, and instead embracing a life of trust in our loving Father.

Often, we long for a step-by-step guide, a blueprint for our lives. We yearn to know the exact decisions to make, the precise actions to take, in order to fulfill our purposes and achieve our goals. However, this desire for certainty stems from human wisdom, not from faith.

God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen not to make every decision for us. Instead, He has provided us with overarching principles and guidance through His Holy Spirit. As we spend time with Him, seeking His voice, He grants us the soundness of mind to apply those principles in our daily lives. He grants us understanding and wisdom to make decisions in alignment with His will.

Living by faith entails living each moment, each day, in an attitude of love, seeking, and rejoicing in Christ. It is a vibrant relationship, a journey of intimacy with our Savior. Faith is not merely a theological position; it is a wholehearted pursuit of knowing Christ and aligning our lives with His purposes.

Any religious duties, personal standards of uprightness, or adherence to other belief systems, divorced from a genuine pursuit of Christ, are lifeless works. Our efforts apart from Him yield nothing but loss—for Him and for us. It is only by stepping out in faith, grounded in our understanding of who God is, that we can truly experience the abundant life He offers.

To step out in faith, we must first cultivate a deep awareness of God's character and integrity. Faith means standing firmly on the truth of His promises, trusting that He is faithful and will fulfill His word. We must recognize that Christ has set us free not for our own selfish pursuits but to wait on Him without distraction. He sacrificed Himself for us, not so we could live for ourselves, but so that we may live fully surrendered lives, glorifying Him in all we do.

As children of God, we will undoubtedly make mistakes along the way as we earnestly seek His will. However, as long as we continue to follow after Jesus, He keeps us in fellowship with our Heavenly Father. This is the essence of the life of faith—a constant pursuit of Christ, accompanied by His sustaining grace and forgiveness.

So, dear friends, let us embrace the adventure of living by faith. Let us surrender our desire for control and certainty, and instead entrust our lives into the hands of our loving Father. May we continually seek His presence, trusting in His promises, and living each day in the pursuit of Christ. For in doing so, we will experience the fullness of life, the joy of fellowship with our Savior, and the fulfillment of our purpose.

Embrace the journey of faith, for it is in surrendering to God's will that we find true freedom and abundant life.
